![]() ![]() It was like letting her go but at the same time, it was also Sam becoming a better person that she wanted to be and accepting herself. Its paradoxically easy for a first-person narrative to slip into this 'telling' mode. However, it sometimes feels like the reader is earnestly told what Sam is feeling, rather than being allowed to sense it themselves. The way Sam just closed her eyes and said I got this instead of looking to Caroline for help. Every Last Word has solid writing, and is an easy read. It was also the ending page that made me low key tear up. ![]() Idk if that made any sense cause I’m not good with words but hopefully you know what I meant since the author was able to display that phenomenally. I just loved how the author described Caroline as someone that Sam wanted to be and how she’s a part of her so she just needed to accept that so they could become one. The twist at the end did catch me by surprise and usually I would pick up on plot twists before they happen, but I just didn’t see Caroline being her imagination as a possibility. ![]() I find myself loving books that revolve around mental health and portray it well and this was one of the books where I found myself sitting there in awe because of how it was written. I’m not going to lie, but this was one book that I did end up dragging out a bit because I wasn’t as into it in the beginning, but today I felt the urge to just binge read so I ended up finishing the rest of it just now. ![]()
